As the regulations differ in several countries, SAP, as a software developer, has to make sure the regional requirements are met and fulfilled. Right at the beginning, it is worth to mention, that a large company like SAP as a software developer is a big advantage at this topic. This is due to their international roadmap and customers worldwide, so it is basically set that legal requirements are fulfilled, when launched or renewed from the government.
Data Privacy Hierarchy
The SAP Customer Checkout software architecture gives us the possibility to do the settings at the POS itself (SAP Customer Checkout) or at the backend server respectively. As the SAP Customer Checkout manager (CCOm) is the central server of multiple POS, it is also possible to steer the central settings at the backend.
How to activate data privacy consent in SAP Customer Checkout
In the following paragraphs the recommended way is shown.
Data Privacy Consent in CCOm
First we log onto CCOm and activate "Data Privacy Consent" via tile at the start page. We are now able to use the standard consent version by SAP or use our own version and distinguish between different versions. Now we are able to take consent when creating or editing personal data in SAP Customer Checkout backend server.
Data Privacy Consent in CCO
In the next step, we switch to the POS(SAP Customer Checkout) itself and activate "Data Privacy Consent" as well. We should maintain the same consent versions in the POS as well. If no SAP Customer Checkout manager is used in the backend, then we could use the standard consent version by SAP or use our own version and distinguish between different versions. Now we are able to take consent when creating or editing personal data at POS itself.
Personal sale with data privacy consent
At the POS the cashier scans the customers articles as know in the general process. If a personalised sale ist triggered, the SAP Customer Checkout software provides an extra section for data privacy consent. The cashier can see in the customers details a) whether consent is given (or not) and b) which version the customer agreed on. So whilst finishing the buying process, the cashier is supported by the software.
