Hi,

I am Saptarshi Sarkar working for HP India Global Soft Bangalore as IT Admin. I have 6 years of experience into Technical Help Desk and IT admin. I want to change my field to SAP. Please suggest what will be the good module to do and which will help me finding a job and a better career opportunity.

Hello ,

As you wrote you have a good experience in IT admin and others, and if you want to Join SAP then

i will suggest you to join SAP Basis, its somehow related to IT work in SAP field.  ..

And please try to add some meaningful title in your others new query..

As per your experience, You can go for BASIS module.

Its depend on your interest.

BASIS module is a technical module.

As per your interest, you can go for technical or functional.

There are many modules are there in SAP

  1. SAP FI Module- FI stands for Financial Accounting
  2. SAP CO Module- CO stands for Controlling
  3. SAP PS Module – and PS is Project Systems
  4. SAP HR Module – HR stands for Human Resources
  5. SAP PM Module – where Plant Maintenance is the PM
  6. SAP MM Module – MM is Materials Management -
  7. SAP QM Module -  QM stands for Quality Management
  8. SAP PP Module – PP  is Production Planning
  9. SAP SD Module – SD is Sales and Distribution
  10. SAP BW Module – where BW stands for Business (Data) Warehouse
  11. SAP  EC Module – where EC stands for Enterprise Controlling

Hi Saptarshi,

You have mentioned that you have been working in Helpdesk/IT Admin, so I believe you were doing troubleshooting for tickets raised by users.

There are technical and functional modules in SAP, take a look at them and see which one you like and find matching with your experience. SAP Basis is a technical module which involves installing/updating/troubleshooting the SAP software system.

There are modules like BI/BO which are for reporting needs and require knowledge of DBMS, you might find it interesting if you have some experience/knowledge of SQL and like to work in Business Intelligence domain.

Try to find out from your friend circle/colleagues/contacts about the module which is currently in demand by recruiters/companies as it will help you in making a good choice.

P.S. Any non SAP experience will not be counted towards experience on any module of SAP but may compliment learning any module.
