Hi Amit

Given your exp, you can move into ABAP and look for further growth into UI5 or FIORI where your exp in JAVA will come handy as well to build a SAP Career

Hi Amit,

if you have sound kno. of oops then you can built your profile of SAP ABAP OOPs, also there are other areas in addition to core abap(RICEF), like Webdynpro, IDOC, workflow, either of these you can choose and then become a proficient. In addition to core abap if you you any one of above skills thne you can stand out of crowd. core abap+ abap oops is good option for you.

Hitesh

Dear Amit,

yes practice is fine.. but abap 21 days is core abap , which is very common skill.. once you done with that go though some online material of ABAP OOps..

Hi Amit,

Its a wonderful thing that you have experience as a java programmer because most of the the SAP newer initiatives, It involves java or java script. Most abaper these days are trying to learn java script and SQL.

So dont restrict yourself to just ABAP , Get your self intune with the SAP initiative (many of these material your will find in open.sap.com )

Good luck with your career in SAP world as an application developer( not necessarily just ABAPer).

Hi Amit,

Based on the info you shared about your experience, current skill set:

I'd suggest get good understanding of ABAP and learn about S4 HANA Database modeling.

ABAP is a 4th gen language and even a functional like myself can code in ABAP.

Having JAVA background I believe you've a stronger background.

The architecture of S4 HANA is a complete fresh one and the concept of database has been completed redone from traditional row based storage to column/row storage and in the new world of ABAP it's very important to understand the different views and how a database is not just a database but a DB+ calculation layer.

I'd suggest get to know the basics of database design, views and modeling around S4 HANA.

You may also explore SAP Business Objects.

That should give you a good direction.

Trust this helps.

Raghu.
