On November 19, SAP America announced it received a perfect score of 100 percent on the 2015 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), a national benchmarking survey and report on corporate policies and practices related to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) workplace equality, administered by the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation. This marks the second time SAP has been recognized on the list with a perfect score, joining the ranks of 364 major U.S. businesses that also earned top marks this year.

With SAP’s commitment to diversity in the workplace, we are so proud that the programs we have in place to support our LGBT colleagues are recognized by the HRC’s 2015 Corporate Equality Index as best in class,” said Jewell Parkinson, Lead Human Resources Business Partner for North America. “We are always seeking new ways to evolve our policies to ensure they are inclusive for all of our employees, their partners and their families.”

The 2015 CEI rated 972 businesses in the report, which evaluates LGBT-related policies and practices including non-discrimination workplace protections, domestic partner benefits, transgender-inclusive health care benefits, competency programs, and public engagement with the LGBT community. With the recent Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) ruling (which allows states to refuse to recognize same-*** marriages), SAP has made sure our healthcare programming is always available to our LGBT employees and families. Just this year, SAP expanded its medical coverage for transgendered employees (or their partners) to cover the surgical, pharmaceutical and other costs related to transition. Such new programming truly underscores SAP’s value on the well-being of its employees.

Globally, SAP has a number of employee and resource networks for its LGBT colleagues. In North America, groups like Pride@North America have always focused on encouraging transparency and visibility for LGBT colleagues. The network helps increase the understanding of work and life issues and supports
colleagues to be more open about who they are and how awareness of LGBT issues contribute to the company’s success.
