On November 9–10, SAP iXp kicked off the first Vancouver Summit, welcoming iXp’s second cohort in SAP Labs Vancouver.
The Summit aims to connect iXp interns with one another and educate on the history and vision of SAP directly from local leaders. Sessions included: a design thinking workshop, an executive panel discussion on creating a genuine network throughout your career, an improvisational session on standing out in the workplace with communication skills and charisma, and the future of digital innovation with SAP Leonardo - and those are highlights of the topics covered in the two days!
Lest, one of our favorite activities post-Summit is reflecting on our favorite Twitter moments. Here we go:
Summit Trend One: Networking is best served with food
SAP iXp Intern Charmaine Lee captured the moment perfectly (and effortlessly, we may add) with this stunning post of a delicious lunch with amazing people. Interns were able to network with interns converted to early talent and ask questions about their journeys, previous experiences, and what it’s like to kick-start their careers at SAP.
Summit Trend Two: The mountains are calling
Climbing the mountain of your career can feel quite challenging at times. Ultra-runner and SAP VP & Global Head of HR Project Office Kelsy Trigg knows that having a handy toolkit for overcoming obstacles is key to success.

Summit Trend Three: There is art in connection
At iXp, we stress the importance of building and maintaining a strong professional network. But how do you spark genuine connection and not make it feel "forced?" In this panel discussion, SAP Labs Vancouver executives Kirsten Sutton, Don Wakefield and Janet Wood shared personal lessons they’ve picked up throughout their careers.

Summit Trend Four: Emotional Intelligence is cool
Emotional Intelligence (EQ) is essential in the workplace. Actually, it’s pretty essential to get through life. SAP’s Sr. Director of Global Advocacy Program, Jason Cao, gave iXp interns a chance to practice empathy through exercises emulating real-world examples of office interactions.

Summit Trend Five: Creativity pairs well with CSR
In keeping with our global SAP iXp theme of giving back to the community, interns channeled their creative sides and built a mini-golf-course out of canned goods, which were all donated to the Greater Vancouver Food Bank after the Summit. Chari-tee … get it?

That's a wrap!
