One of the best ways to show what Life is like at SAP is to share our employee stories to provide insight into their experiences and what being successful means to us at the company. I am Heather Walker, and I work on the Global Employer Branding team. Over the last few months I have had the opportunity to speak with 50 colleagues across our Europe, Middle East and Africa region to help share their stories. Here is an interview I did with Evrim Colakoglu.

Evrim graduated in industrial engineering in Turkey and credits this degree for the opportunity to develop analytical thinking and problem solving skills which she utilizes in her Presales role for SuccessFactors.

When did you start working at SAP?

I joined at SAP in February 2015 as an attendee of SAP Presales Academy which is a one year intensive, accelerated training program. The program consists of a highly structured curriculum addressing key skills in effective presentation delivery, project management, Design Thinking, business acumen, effective teamwork, executive-level communication, SAP solutions and industries along with SAP Presales methodology.

Upon my graduation from the academy, I continued to work as a Presales Associate based in Istanbul, Turkey. Since the very beginning, I am very enthusiastic about to be a part of SAP, a company holding the power to transform businesses and industries.

How did you find your role with SAP?

I read a post about the SAP Academy for Presales on LinkedIn. After spending time exploring SAP and the academy, I had a sense that this was the perfect match for me, and an opportunity I needed to seize.

It was a straight-forward hiring process consisting of an online application phase, two phone interviews and full day case study workshop. During the whole process, I truly enjoyed learning more about SAP and the culture which drives this company forward with a powerful feeling of we are a good fit.

What do you think the key skills people need to work in Presales?

Besides the vast product knowledge which is certainly needed to become a trusted advisor, top-notch communication and presentation skills are required, never forgetting the importance of mastering in conflict management. Another key skill is empathy since being in Presales means investing extensive time and energy on understanding our customers and their agenda.

What does your career at SAP mean to you?

It is a great way to express myself while gaining the opportunity to learn and grow. I do what I do with strong passion and I believe in the motto “Bring Everything You Are, Become Everything You Want” at SAP.
