Hi everyone. I have a problem
I have created a select-option for a standard data element IWERK. In selection texts i have marked it as "take from dictionary". It works ok. But when I log in in german it is displayed as IWERK even though in selection text tab it has a german translation.
I thought if i take data element name from data dictionary, it should be translated normaly... Any ideas?

hi Jurijs,
it should take from dictionary, but it does not, you have to translate manually in each single case.

Have you manually maintained any Translations .
in selectiontexts .,.,click the item u want the translation,..,thn
GOTO->Translation -> Maintain translation in German Language and u will get that in your screen while loging in German language.
I doubt if Text elements are a option 2 use,.,.
U can get all the translations based on the dataelement in DD04t table.,.,try geting the translations from there and Try maintaining the translation and save.,.it will work

Hi Jurijs,
You need to handle the selection texts for German separately.
Please fallow below procedure to do that.
Go to se38 and enter your program name click on change button.
From main menu select Goto->text elements->selection texts (here you will get the selection text screen)
Again From main menu select Goto--->translation
Enter:
Original language EN English
Target language DE German
Press enter.
In next screen you have to enter the German text.
That will automatically consider when you login in German language.
If you need any information mail me.

I just fixed a similar problem without using manual translation. The program title text wasn't translated. When I translated it, my selection screen translations finally came from the dictionary correctly.

HI Erik,
It would be very useful to know how you did this. Please could you provide some more detail on how you got the DDic descriptions for the Selection Screen.
Thanks,
Tony.

I checked the box to take the translation from DDIC. That's all I did. The reason it didn't work at first for me was because the text for the program's title wasn't translated. This is translated if you go to
SE38 for your program -> Texts -> Translate
Please make sure you don't have anything in red for DE and it should work. If not, at least then your program will be fully translated.

Although this is a pretty old post, I am posting since this is the first link in Google - hope this helps future ABAPers.
The trick is that when you are making the translations - make the source language as original language and maintain desired target language. On doing this, you will find that the field needing translation will come as a '.' - just maintain any random text over there and press 'Save'.
You will find that the text that you maintained will automatically disappear and take the data element description in target language.
Cheers!!!

Go to " GOTO ==> Text ELEMENTS ==> Selection TEXT" OR You can use transaction SE32 and choose "Selection Texts"
