Hi,
Would like to know the difference (if any) between ROLE and ACTIVITY GROUP. Wondering , if ACTIVITY GROUP was in 4.6B and it is now called as ROLE in 4.7?
I could see this diff in PFCG - Authorization tab details.
Thanks,
Sam

Essentially no.
I think the original choice of wording for AGR was from the idea that the various activity types for auth objects could be populated for a generatable AGR and the admin would only need to add the org elements and * into anything that seemed peripheral.
Being able to tie in multiple transactions, observing the size of the authorization buffers and realizing the potential benefit of making an AGR a process oriented AGR so that business people could relate to it, SAP switched the label to "Role" and made a few technical adjustments.
Of course, this is just speculation on my part.

It was called "ACTIVITY GROUP" for Releases < 4.6B.
For higher releases it is called "Role".
Difference: With roles, you can add now Role specific User-Menues where with activity groups you couldn't.
