Issue with custom font in Smartform

Former Member

Hello all,

We have created a custom Z font in SE73 as we do not have SEGOE (Normal, Bold, Italic and Bold Italic) font in standard SAP.

We are having issues when we convert to PDF as we get the message 'Cannot extract the embedded font ‘Segoe’. Some characters may not display or print correctly' but the text is still displayed and there is no text lost.

We are getting this error in some cases when the OTF data is being used to convert to PDF.

We need to use SEGOE font and cannot replace it.

Please suggest if you have any ideas to resolve this issue.

Thank you.

Regards,

Kirthi.

Refer Note : 999712, also execute report  “RSTXPDF2UC” with radiobutton option "Display font mapping SAP -> PDF" and provide device type to which you are trying to convert OTF to PDF, if any suitable mapping found then ok otherwise you need to create a suitable font mapping with PDFUC device type and need to use this device type for conversion.

Hello,

You can try to  upload the font via report RSTXPDF2 and set the flag 'Do not insert font in PDF'. You should also set the flag 'Global softfont' (that the font is available for the print). After this the font is not embedded into the PDF file any more, only the font name of the Windows font is put into the file. This works, if the Windows font SEGOE is installed on the PC which you use to display the PDF file and

if you use at least Acrobat Reader version 6.0.

Hi David,

Thanks for the details.

I have uploaded the fonts and the it does not seem to get embedded into the PDF anymore, however in print preview I am able to see the Bold text but the same in PDF is shown as normal text (not Bold). On looking closer it appears that the font is being replaced during PDF conversion and the actual font style that is uploaded is no longer being used. The font style when embedded is different from when it is not embedded.

Please see the attachment for the PDF properties.

Can you please help with any suggestions for this?

Thank you.

Kirthi.

Hi Kirthi,

In order to check further, I need to check the PDF file itself. Please upload the PDF file into this thread and I will check it.

David
