How to extract Master data into another System

I like to extract Material Master, Vendor MAster and Customer Master data into 3rd party system. Material Master has around 20000 materials. What is the bestway to extract data to be loaded into 3rd Party system. We also have XI between these systems for future Masterdata distribution thru Idocs. I would like to know what is the best approach for initial data loads.

Hi,

Download the data into a CSV file.

Write a program using GUI_UPLOAD to upload the CSV file and insert records.

Best regards,

Hi Ram,

Since you have XI middleware system which can be used as data transformation, IDoc is the best approach to extract master data for 3rd party system.

No custom development required for IDoc interface between SAP to XI. SAP provides standard programs to extract master data. For examples, you can use transaction BD10 (Send material master) with message type MATMAS, transaction BD12 (Send customer master) with message type DEBMAS and transaction BD14 (Send vendor master) with message type CREMAS. You only need to setup the ALE and IDoc configuration.

In addition, IDoc has excellent error handling and monitoring tool.

IDoc also has capability to reprocess the error.

Other solution, you may want to consider, is using LSMW.

Hope this will help and give you an idea.

Thank you very much Ferry. So with BD10, BD12, BD14 we can send complete list of Materials ( for example we have 20,000 materials) from R3 to XI and then to 3rd party system?.

If you configure MATMAS IDOC then you can out all the materials using BD10. BD12 and BD14 are for customer / vendor masters.

Yes you can send all the material idocs to XI and from XI you will have to send it to the third party system.

Here is config guide for the IDOC
