Enhancement Technique: How to Use Substitutions
FI Enhancement Technique How-To-Guide on the Usage of Business Transaction Events (BTE)
i went through above links....i have a similar requirement.. i want to populate business area(GSBER) field based on GL account, while posting(in line items)... but in both the cases business area not found in substitutable fields.... how can i populate business area field thats not in substitutable field ? please help me...

Hi,
The BTE should work.
Try this BTE : 1120.
Here is a sample function module:
SAMPLE_PROCESS_00001120
It has BSEG as a tables statement, which means you can change contents.

but business area field(gsber) is not found in table T_BSEGSUB(Process Interfaces: Substitutable Fields During Posting ) of FM ZSAMPLE_PROCESS_00001120. i guess we can only substitute the fields thats present in T_BSEGSUB and T_BKPFSUB.

I meant do you use ECC 6.0 ?
Anyway, just check this :
Go to se38, type this include : LF005F01
Go into Display mode.
Next, check if you have a spiral button on the application toolbar. Its available in latest versions of SAP. It should be the 5th-6th button on the toolbar.
If you dont have it, I'm sorry , I can't think of a way to solve your problem right now.
But I shall try.

do u have program called GGBS000 in ur system ?
so make use of this program , put it in ZGGBS000 , and create a validation in GGB0,assing form liek U0001 to that validations , in that FORM , u can do whatever u want.
