ALV filtering option is not working in Non numeric fields .

Dear Friends ,

I  have developed a report report which contains both numeric data and non numeric data , but problem is when i apply filter it is working only for numeric filed. here in forum i found (  REF_TABNAME  ,  REF_FIELDNAME , OUTPUTLEN ) option . i tried all these option still it is not working .

My observation : In FCAT if i use  FIELDNAME as standard one it is working but if i use custom declaration it is not working .

For example --> just consider PA0001 table ( master data info ) .

here i am taking

        pernr

        ename

        werks

        orgeh

        kostl

later i get text for KOST and ORGEH .

so i made the final structure  as given below .

pernr

ename

werks

orgeh_text

kostl_text

In ALV output filtering is working only for " pernr ename werks " , for orgeh_text & kostl_text field it is showing the list but when filter it shows nothing .

why it is working only for standard field not for custom ?

i tried with REF_TABNAME  ,  REF_FIELDNAME , OUTPUTLEN  nothing is worked .

still i have option to covert the  table value to upper case but i don't want to do that when it is working with standard filed why it is not working for custom ?????  Please help me to understand this scenario .

Thank you friends .

Hi,

Be aware of case sensitiveness when setting the filter.

Thanks for the reply . How case sensitive ?? The value which i am getting in filter option is same as Internal table value. If i need to convert into UPPER case mean , how standard filed are working ? ? Could you please clarify ?

Did u check the default output length of the field and the actual length of the field as per the data element ?
