On Thursday April 8th 2021 at 6:30PM is Sydney Tech Night, which is an SAP Inside Track event.

#sitSYD SAP Tech Night Sydney April 8th 2021 | SAP Blogs

When these events used by in-person events they were at SAP Sydney head office and there was free beer and free pizza, and we all went to the pub. I vaguely recall there used to be some sort of presentations as well, I cannot really remember.

No of course all events are virtual, so the audience will have to eat virtual pizzas and drink virtual beer and go down the virtual pub afterwards, but the bonus is all these things are still free, and you don't even have to be in Sydney anymore in order to come along.

Happy Pizza

I am giving the first presentation at this event and it is not about any wild and exotic new technology which you won't be able to use for ten years until you are on a high enough level of SAP, by which point whatever it is will be obsolete. I cover that sort of thing in my books - I am writing a fourth edition of "ABAP to the Future" as I speak.

This time I am actually talking about a project the company I work for did some years back which was an enormous success and goth shortlisted for an award.

As it turned out we got beaten by robots from NASA, but anyway i was the lead programmer on the project and it took four years. It was all to do with wrapping Z things around the standard SAP Variant Configuration module. It was the best thing I had ever written in my life, and I did it using TDD.

Anyway there is no point going into anymore detail here, as I want you to tune in next week, virtual beer in one hand, virtual pizza in the other.

Just to make things a bit more exciting one lucky person will be winning a mystery prize. What you have to do is look out for the Egg Man.

Egg Man

This is quite appropriate, what with it being Easter and everything. Easter is like Christmas - everything is shut and we all go to work during the holidays and upgrade our computer systems. This fine evening at work we are upgrading a major (non SAP) system for the first time in fourteen years.

In any event the Egg Man will be giving a secret four word message during the presentation. Once you have worked out what the secret message is, send me a direct message on SAP Community Site with the message and the first one (or possibly two) people to do so will get the mystery prize.

OK that will do for now! See you then!

Happy Virtual Wine

PS whilst I am plugging things I thought I would mention three new ABAP books that have come out recently, and which all compliment each other.

Cheersy Cheers
