Step by Step guide to upgrade ABAP on Eclipse for HANA Development
This blog describes how to update the front-end components of ABAP Development Tools (ADT) for SAP ABAP on HANA.
I’m writing this as a follow-up blog from my previous blog for the installation. For those of you who are installing newly, they do not need to upgrade, because the installation picks the recent version.
The upgrade process itself is pretty simple and I beleive this blog may be useful for those who wants to understand and/or for those who want to know the upgrade details.
I have provided you with detailed screens on upgrade for working with ADT. Hope you enjoy !!!
Note: This is only applicable for those who already have installed ADT for Eclipse (However applicable for Kepler or luna versions).
Step 1: Choose Install new software from Eclipse menu.
Step 2: Choose the available updates (it will be automatically detected)
Choose the required components (Core development tools etc.,) with appropriate versions (In this case 2.28.4 is recent at the time of this blog)
Step 3: Accept SAP license agreement
Step 4: You should see the components being downloaded
Presto! Your upgrade should get completed pretty soon (It took about 5 minutes for me).
Step 5: Restart Eclipse (Eclipse requires restart for the new installed plug-ins to get loaded. This is however not new, atleast for those who use Netweaver Developer Studio are pretty aware of this process.)
Enjoy the ADT !!!
