I think this was one of the best Design Thinking workshops I had the pleasure to facilitate in my Design Thinking Career. It was fun, it was engaging and we all wanted more. The reason - most of the participants were 16 year olds from a school called CMR PU College (CMR EKYA) in Whitefield in Bangalore. Their energy was infectious.

This experiential workshop was designed to help participants understand the varied and deep philosophies of Design Thinking via many fun activities such as the Marshmallow challenge, Blow with the wind blow, I a tree, Personal Map and much more.

The challenge for the day was to "Design the most useful Mobile app for a persona". The students were divided into 5 teams and each of them were given a set of pictures from the 'life of an individual". Students had to figure out what character they need to design the app for. This helped them understand the core point which is empathy and how they need to go about a structured approach to build their personas thereby making a linkage between innovation and a structured approach to get there. Then they started to synthesize the POV (point of view) and all this was in the problem space.

The second half of the day was dedicated to the solutions space where they ideated, made their prototypes, tested their prototypes and then tested them again. This is where it got exciting. each team presented their prototypes and all other teams were asked to share their thoughts, comments, likes and dislikes - quite a healthy loud-house emerged!

It was heartening to see such energetic and enthusiastic participation and some mature thoughts from these 16 year olds. I see leaders in all of them!

This is the agenda that we followed.

Here are some glimpses from the workshop.
