Gender equality is an important part of SAP’s mission to make the world run better and improve people’s lives. SAP has taken many steps in the past years in working towards a gender equal workplace, with the recent highlight of supporting the Stanford initiative Women in Data Science with its annual conference taking place at Stanford University and being broadcasted all over the world.

Prior to the main conference taking place on February 3rd, SAP Next-Gen, supported by SAP Innovation Center Network and Diversity & Inclusion, hosted a meetup which focused on Machine Learning and Women in Tech at the new DATA SPACE by SAP in the heart of Berlin.

More than 50 members of Berlin’s tech community joined the sold-out meetup and listened to inspiring presentations from both SAP colleagues as well as a female entrepreneur.

Susanne Nosky (SAP SE, Business Development for Machine Learning) & Michaela Cato (SAP SE, Chief Architect) kicked off the inspiring night with their presentation about the Intelligent Enterprise – A Digitalized Future. They provided a brief overview about Machine Learning and how it is utilized to transform enterprise data into real business value. The new intelligent systems create innovative possibilities of social interactions between the end user and the machine and make machine learning more approachable.

Dr. Vedrana Högqvist Tabor (CEO Boost Health) demonstrated how Big Data and Machine Learning algorithms are helping patients suffering under autoimmune conditions. With the app boost health, patients are empowered to collect Big Data of their autoimmune conditions. Based on this data, Machine Learning algorithms create predictions for early signs of disease progression as well as health outlook.

After both inspiring talks, many interesting conversations developed in the machine learning & women in data science community in Berlin. Business cards were exchanged and one could witness innovation happening at the DATA SPACE by SAP in Berlin.
