Spring is the season of new beginnings. Not surprisingly, it is often associated with ideas like rejuvenation, renewal and regrowth. What better way to jump into spring than with a bunch of exciting and innovative ideas on the Internet of Things (IoT), which have the potential to transform businesses and help companies run better?
Innovations at SAP take off with #innotakeoff
The culture of SAP fosters innovation, which is often exemplified by the various internal and external events and competitions. SAP #innotakeoff, hosted by SAP’s CIO Center for Digital Leadership, is just one example of a contest which encourages SAP employees, student teams and start-up companies to uncover the infinite possibilities hidden within IoT and Big Data and create exciting innovations using SAP HANA Cloud Platform. The #innotakeoff competition is a great opportunity for IoT enthusiasts to submit their innovative ideas, prototype their applications and pitch their prototypes to an expert jury with representatives from the startup scene and SAP’s c-level management, with the ultimate goal being to win the SAP Digital Innovation Award and be recognized globally in SAP's Innovators Hall of Fame.
Around one hundred innovative IT-related ideas were submitted, sixty of these comprised the employee section, creating tough competition for the Digital Innovation Award. These ideas ranged from helping employees live fit and healthy, working smarter, traveling more securely, to driving sustainability and social impact. SAP’s IoT Smart Connected Business team was well represented in the contest and participated with several innovative ideas, Path to Wellness being one among them.
Path to Wellness is an innovative, IoT-enabled wellness solution designed for today’s corporate employees and HR professionals, which conveniently helps employees manage their physical, mental and social health, making their lives easier, healthier, fun and more productive. Running on SAP HANA Cloud Platform, this prototype leverages the benefits of Big Data analytics to derive real-time insights, based on a combination of IoT, HR and social data. By deriving analytical insights, a healthy organizational culture can be created and promoted, improving employees’ health and work-life balance.
A testimony to SAP’s thought leadership in IoT
After three rounds of intense prototyping, competitions and eliminations, accompanied by a lot of cheering and team support onsite, Path to Wellness was announced as the winner of 2016 SAP #innotakeoff Competition, in the employee section, and awarded the 2016 Digital Innovation Award. This success is not only an example of SAP constantly driving innovation but also a testimony to SAP’s and to the IoT Smart Connected Business team’s thought leadership in IoT.
Congratulations to the winners for their success and innovative spirit!
