SAP BUSINESSOBJECTS PLATFORM ADMINISTRATION
SAP BusinessObjects Platform 4.x introduces a new wave of different BI front end applications (SAP Lumira, Design Studio, Predictive Analysis, and Crystal Reports for Enterprise) with their own corresponding servers and services that require more memory and processing resources than ever before.
In BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 3.1, it was customary to allocate 16 GB of RAM to a HOST hosting 1 or more NODES. In the latest version- SAP BusinessObjects Platform 4.1, some production environments have 32 GB, 64GB, and in some instances 96 to 128 GB RAM per host hosting 1 or more NODES! What is the culprit? The Architecture has evolved considerably since the BOE XI 3.1 days. The Adaptive Processing Server now houses 22 services (or more depending on your configuration) each of them very hungry for memory as well as processing resources.
It is therefore imperative that you become familiarized with the new BI Strategy as well as the new more complex SAP BusinessObjects Platform 4.1 Architecture and process flows. As well, become familiarized with the new enhancements which include:

The System Configuration Wizard helps administrators configure SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence platform. The wizard makes it easier than ever to get your system up and running by guiding you through a set of essential post-installation configuration steps.

BOE310 – SAP BusinessObjects Platform: Administration and Security
This two-day instructor-led course explains how to perform the tasks in the Central Management Console (CMC) such as Administrative Scheduling, Report Instance Management, Event based Scheduling, Managing the Alerting Application, Managing the Platform Search Application, SAP BusinessObjects
Publishing Services (Report Bursting), and manage the object oriented security model. Security management involves supporting BusinessObjects Platform users and groups so they can access corporate data through the BI Launchpad portal as well as Application specific security i.e. Securing the Web Intelligence Report Design Applications.
BOE320 – SAP BusinessObjects Platform: Administering Servers
This three-day instructor-led course explains and demonstrates what each server component in BusinessObjects Platform does and how it is configured. There is a special concentration on the SAP BusinessObjects Platform 4.1 Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) as well as Server Process Flows. These process flows provide guidance on how servers interact with each other to deliver BI transactions such as the processing of a Crystal Report schedule or viewing a Web Intelligence Document on demand. Mastering the process flows allows you to better troubleshoot problems you may encounter in the BI Platform (BIP). You will also learn how to manage auditing and Monitoring the BI Platform (BIP).
BOE330 – SAP BusinessObjects Platform: Designing and Deploying a Solution
This 5 day instructor-led course teaches system administrators the skills and knowledge required to design and deploy a multi- machine horizontally scalable BusinessObjects Platform for large organizations consisting of 2000 or more potential users. Students will learn how to analyze and identify customer requirements in order to design a BusinessObjects Platform solution using the concepts of High Availability (CMS Clustering), Scalability, (Web Application Server Split Mode Configuration and Tomcat Clustering) Sizing (using the SAP Sizing Estimator) , 3rd Party Authentication management (LDAP), Single
Sign-On Management (Common Access Card CAC), Managing end-to-end tracing, troubleshooting with 3rd party tools like Apache JMETER and FIDDLER2, Disaster Recovery and Lifecycle Management.

The "SAP Certified Application Associate C_BOBIP_41 - SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence Platform 4.1" certification exam verifies that the candidate possesses proven skills and fundamental knowledge in designing, deploying and running SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence platform 4.1. This exam measures the candidate's knowledge of SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence platform, starting with the tasks involved in supporting SAP Business Intelligence platform users and groups, so as to access corporate data through the SAP Business Intelligence platform's web portal. It tests the candidate's skills in configuring and managing servers in an SAP Business Intelligence platform deployment, as well as in designing and deploying an SAP Business Intelligence platform system.
To ensure success, SAP recommends combining education courses and hands-on experience to prepare for your certification exam as questions will test your ability to apply the knowledge you have gained in training. You are not allowed to use any reference materials during the certification test (no access to online documentation or to any SAP system).
