Not going to SAPPHIRE NOW this year? Never been to the world’s most innovative business conference? Curious about what it's like? Let me be your eyes and ears. Let me know what you want to hear about. As the social media ambassador for employees, I will be blogging here on SCN about the colleagues who contribute in some way to creating the customer and partner experience in Orlando. But I need your input. Let me know your areas of interest, people of interest. I will do my best to follow up for you. Because there is much more to SAPPHIRE than just the keynotes.
When I first joined SAP 11 years ago, I considered our annual customer conference an event for people in the field. How wrong I was. This is the place to get first-hand insight into our product and technology strategy, to watch the best demos, to learn from subject matter experts, and to see our marketing machine in action. SAPPHIRE NOW is for everyone in the company.
But remember, there are a number of other colleagues blogging about our product and technology areas. Check out the social media program here.
So far I've lined up a number of interviews with colleagues who will be at the event. I don't want to spoil the fun but expect to see a video interviews with the colleagues who are driving the SAP Mobile Advisory Board, the design thinking presence, as well as those who handle the Global Communications program. (The ones who create an experience around the event for dozens of journalists, bloggers, industry and financial analysts). I will also be pestering people who staff demo pods or host customers and partners as account executives.
To get you started, here are some stats for the event:
2014 marks the silver anniversary of SAPPHIRE. The first SAPPHIRE was held 25 years ago in a hotel in Princeton with a whopping 180 people in attendance.
This year we are expecting 17,000 participants in Orlando.
An additional 85,000 people are expected to take part in the online event.
Customers from over 74 countries have registered for the event.
Over 240 partners will be exhibiting.
