In my role as SAP’s first Chief Digital Officer (CDO) and Head of the SAP Digital business unit, I’m responsible for guiding SAP through its digital transformation, a role I transitioned to 10 months ago from Chief Marketing Officer. Digital transformation, the use of technology to drive significant business improvement, is fundamentally changing every industry, including the technology industry. To stay ahead of this disruption, transformation must be a priority for all businesses and I'm passionate about how it impacts SAP.
On September 24(10 a.m. PDT/1 p.m. EDT) I will be hosting a TweetChat – titled “What’s on the CDO’s Mind” – together with Sean Cornwell, CDO of Travelex. I’d like to invite everyone involved in or interested in the topic of digital transformation – digitalists from all levels, within businesses small to large, and in all industries – to join the conversation (#SAPDigitalChat).
During the TweetChat, Sean and I will discuss how we’re maneuvering our way through this transformation at Travelex and SAP. We’d like to engage in an active and live conversation with you on the many issues to consider on your own transformation journey. Topics we expect to touch on include the following:
What the role of the CDO encompasses, how the role is defined and resourced
Some of the biggest challenges in orchestrating digital transformation
Key elements for successful digital transformation
Examples of reality vs. hype
How to effectively engage your teams in the transformation
How to measure progress in your digital journey
Trends and vision for the future
Following the TweetChat, participants will have an opportunity to access the recent IDC Report, “Chief Digital Officers: Bridging the Innovation Gap Between CIO and CMO” by Gerry Murray. It examines the emerging role of the chief digital officer and highlights how CXOs and business/IT leaders can position themselves and their organizations with respect to the CDO role for maximum advantage and synergy.
We are well underway with our digital transformation at SAP, but the journey is far from complete. I look forward to engaging with you in a lively TweetChat on Sept 24to share best practices, insights, challenges and success.
