SAP as a partner of the European Coding Initiative launched last year with the former EU Commissioner Neelie Kroes to promote coding skills in Europe, co-organised a high level “All you Need is Code” event in Brussels to mark the launch of the EU Code Week 2015 with the policy makers, industry such as Microsoft, Liberty Global or Samsung, civil society such as European Schoolnet, teachers and young people.

Over 130 participants came to pledge their support for the initiative and discuss ways to scale and mainstream the efforts to enable youth for the digital economy. Liam Ryan, SAP Labs Manager, Ireland emphasized that tech Industry and SAP is committed to empower youth with technology, digital skills and quality jobs. Our goal is to enable young people to become digital creators, not only users and to become active citizens in the digital era in Europe and in Africa. We aim to support teachers, parents and volunteers with the relevant materials to teach coding and ultimately enable supply of necessary skills for all industries that undergo digital transformations.

The high level event was a platform to discuss ways to boost coding skills and their role for the growth and competitiveness of Europe for the Member of the European Parliament, Michal Boni, Director in Digital Economy and Society, European Commission Gerard de Graaf, Director General at DG Education, European Commission, Martine Reicherts, CEO of Coder Dojo Foundation,  Mary Maloney, or the lead Ambassador of the EU Code Week, Alessandro Bogliolo.

After the panel, SAP and partners presented their technology and learning materials, and organized coding classes for policy makers.
