The Labeling List changes in today's PB are not effective until March 15, which is maybe notable since it seems most recent Labeling List changes in the PB have already been effective for a number of days before they've been published in the PB! These changes are not required until 29 May 2012. For Postalsoft(r) users, the updates will be in the April directory files. These appear to be mostly minor adjustments, somewhat spread around the country.

I've mentioned this before, but as a reminder it's a little harder now to try to see exactly how these items appeared previously in the DMM because the Labeling Lists are no longer included as part of the online DMM. Of course they are still online, but they are directly under the Postal Explorer page, rather than in the DMM listing. In that location, they do not get noted with a date to show the last time they changed, for example, and the most recent archive versions of the DMM, starting from November 2011, do not include the Labeling Lists so it's hard to compare how these tables looked in recent DMMs.

If you hadn't ever looked at the old DMMs online, there's a landing page for all the archives here. You can find DMMs going back to 2003, if you have an interest in comparing current regulations to previous language.

Otherwise, today's PB has just two DMM revisions:

  • Increase eBay Insurance Indemnity Limit
  • District Consolidations ZIP Code Realignments

The first item allows insuring "...applicable mailpieces up to $5,000 when purchasing domestic insurance on eBay."

The other change means updates to DMM 608.8.4, USPS Contact Information for PCSC and District Business Mail Entry Offices Contact Information. Individual changes are not noted in this update - it only shows the entire table listing the Business Mail Entry manager for each set of 3-Digit ZIP codes. Just from curiousity I compared the new entry for our contact for La Crosse's ZIP, and the address information is unchanged from the 2008 entry I looked up but the phone numbers are different.
