Follow-up of the “Best of UI5“ demo presented at SAP TechEd in Bengaluru

One of the highlights of SAP TechEd on Tour was the amazing demos presented by our Community Advocates and Developer Advocates. At the SAP TechEd in Bengaluru last week, Nico Schoenteich demoed the flexibility and openness of UI5 by showing two approaches for extending UI5 application with custom elements. As a follow-up to his demo presented at the Developer Keynote, he published a blog post about how to consume arbitrary web components natively in UI5 applications. Whether you were on-site and are looking for more information, or could not attend but are interested in the topic, we highly recommend checking his content for valuable advice to make the process decreasingly complicated.

SAP TechEd on Tour: Sessions using SAP Mobile Start

SAP Mobile Start is the native entry point to the SAP Business Suite, providing access to native or web-responsive business apps along with other content and critical business information. At SAP TechEd in Berlin and Bengaluru, SAP´s  Thilo Berndt and Thomas Bruckner, covered various mobile topics at workshops called "CA260 – Learn how to build your own app and use it in SAP Mobile Start". In Thomas’ latest blog post, he shared a full recap with the main technical aspects and valuable material for introduction, building and deploying the base version of the extension, app integration, and extensions, plus the implementation of custom push notifications. The on-site sessions were centered on the ease of building pro-code extensions using SAP Build and specifically SAP Build Code with the SAP Cloud Application Programming Model (CAP). And if you could not take part and want to have a chance to try it out, they also uploaded all the material and exercises on GitHub within the repository  SAP-samples/teched2025-CA260.

Everything you need to know to start with SAP Business Data Cloud

At SAP TechEd in Sydney, SAP´s Klaus-Peter Sauer presented great sessions around SAP Business Data Cloud, bringing an insightful overview and focusing on growing solutions to the product road map. In case you had the opportunity to watch the session or could not be present but are looking for more information about the topic, recently one of our SAP community members Akhila Unnithan, published a great BDC Beginner Guide. Akhila shared the main key points to understand how the unified data platform works and how it can turn into the only source that provides everyone with a consistent and governed layer of data, whether it is for analytics, planning, or building AI Applications. She also explains what the existing SAP solutions are that form the foundation (SAP Datasphere, SAP Analytics Cloud and SAP BW or BW/4HANA) and what the new components introduced specifically for SAP Business Data Cloud are (SAP Databricks and SAP Business Data Cloud Foundation Services).

SAP TechEd in Berlin: recap by SAP Champion Patrizia Rossi

“Superheroes without capes“ was the best term the SAP Champion Patrizia Rossi could use to describe our incredible SAP Community team. In her SAP TechEd in Berlin recap blog post, she walks through how the event was one to remember, starting with the fact that she was one of the rewarded SAP Champions who won the SAP TechEd ticket! With amazing pictures to illustrate the moments at the Developers Keynote and Community Clubhouse, Patrizia explains how she was impacted by the outgrowing Joule Agents and SAP Build, for tangible and smart automations directly from the development environment. Therefore, for her, the biggest spark is the fact that AI is no longer an experiment. Patrizia left the event feeling more inspired than ever, and honestly this is the feeling we wish for every single member of our SAP community.

SAP TechEd in Sydney: connecting before and after

For a lot of our SAP community members, the in-person connection is the biggest highlight of the SAP TechEd events. And in Sydney, beyond the experience of networking at the Community Theatre, the local community made sure to show up also for the pre-event Sydney Stammtisch. Organized by Mike Doyle and Jeff T., the meeting had around 70-80 attendees and plenty of insightful and honest conversations. It was also an incredible opportunity for our SAP Community Advocates, like Anne Petteroe and Josh Bentley, to finally meet in person many local group members and strengthen even more the connections that were once created online. If you attended and want to share your pictures, comment on Mike latest blog post and share with the community!

SAP TechEd in Bengaluru: the most energetic and positive crowd

“The energy, insightful conversations, and knowledge-sharing reaffirmed why this community is so special“ was our SAP Mentor Mohit Bansal description of his participation at the SAP TechEd in Bengaluru, and we also believe that this is the best way to put it. Just like past events, Bengaluru is always a place full of good and high-energy people, who are always seeking more innovation, more outcomes, and more real-life connections. Some of our amazing SAP Champions and Mentors could present great sessions and bring their expertise on-site, creating one of the best atmospheres for learning with purpose. One of the main key takeaways for many participants was the accelerating adoption of Business AI worldwide, but also how the complexities of this implementation can only be conquered with the support of all our community. We would like to highly recommend that everyone who was present share more of your experience in a blog post or, in case you are a member of the local community, bring your experience details and pictures at the Bengaluru Location group posts.

News and Events

ASUG Tech Connect 2025 in Louisville

Recently one of our biggest events in the United States took place in Louisville, Kentucky, and brought light to many AI improvements for developers and businesses, the constant growth of ABAP, Clean Core for digital transformation, and many other SAP topics.  SAP´s Peter Spielvogel, wrote an amazing recap (blog post here) with the details of each one of his many Key Notes. But at ASUG Tech Connect, it was also an opportunity for the local community to come together, bring together ideas, and reflect on the importance of always remembering that people can grow from technological changes. Inspired by the sessions, Peter brought the question in his blog post: „How can I empower my people by asking them: What are you good at? What do you want? What do you need? What do you fear? This will help you preempt many objections that are rooted in these issues”, and we also believe that all these are mandatory self-reflecting questions. Did you take part? Do you have any other great thoughts about it? Share with us!

Hobbies Series: Long-distance hiking

We love to see that even with a month full of work like November was for most of us, our community members are still seeking life balance and taking their time for their passions. The SAP Community Hobbies Series, started by Moshe Naveh, inspired SAP´s Jan Rumig to share more about his love for hiking over thousands of kilometers. In his latest blog post, he explains that everything began with a family tradition that later became more intense, as he started spending two weeks exploring mountain regions. Illustrating with iconic pictures of his adventures in Portugal, New Zeeland, and Germany, for Jan the most wonderful feeling is when he reaches the final signpost after a long trail. If you are interested in starting to hike, we believe this content will give you the right motivation!
