Last week happened one of the biggest highlights of the year for our SAP community! The SAP TechEd in Berlin was an incredible opportunity to bring together Developers, SAP Mentors and Champions, experts, and community members from all over the world for an inspiring few days filled with innovation, learning, and sharing. From the main keynote announcements to hands-on sessions and vibrant community meetups, SAP TechEd in Berlin 2025 was a true celebration of connections and technology.

Whether you joined us on-site or virtually, there were so many great announcements to take in from exciting updates in ABAP and AI, to the amazing energy of the SAP Community Clubhouse. Let’s take a closer look at some of the best moments and highlights!

Blog Posts about SAP TechEd in Berlin

SAP HANA Cloud goes agentic!

SAP HANA Cloud is our cloud-native database as a service, delivering in-memory performance, multi-model data processing capabilities and elastic scale for intelligent applications. And to make these capabilities even more accessible and enable full power of the system, in early 2026, due to two new agents: the Discovery Agent and the Data Agent. The Discovery Agent is your companion to find and identify relevant tables, views, columns, and user-defined functions for any business case. The Data Agent converts natural-language intent into executable queries (e.g., SQL) to retrieve your data of interest. For this to be possible, SAP is expanding the SAP HANA Cloud knowledge graph engine with the ability to generate custom database-objects. Agents and the built-in knowledge graph help developers and business users find the right data through context and relationships. To understand more, SAP´s Thomas Hammer and  Shabana Samsudheen prepared two great blog posts with details about fully Agentic Multi-Model database.

Paradigm Shift for Enterprise AI

One of the biggest announcements at SAP TechEd in Berlin, was the launch of SAP table-native foundation model, pre-trained to understand your table-based business data out-of-the-box across a vast range of predictive tasks, without the need for task-specific training or fine-tuning. Until now, most organizations were using different AI specialist models for each prediction task, what makes the AI landscape slower. The launch of sap-rpt-1 (rpt stands for Relational Pretrained Transformer), it is designed to be a single universal AI engine table-native, for SAP´s customers and partners. The best part is the in-context learning capability, which means that sap-rpt-1 doesn´t require task-specific training, just need to receive labeled table row examples of your predictive task in-context, and the model delivers a highly accurate prediction. This engine was developed by our AI researchers (recently published to this year’s NeurIPS conference) and they made sure to bring more details on a blog post for our SAP Community. We highly recommend taking a good look and learning how to start using the preview version.

Key Innovations for the ABAP Cloud development

At SAP TechEd in Berlin, one of the main spotlights was the announcements that redefine the ABAP Cloud development experience. The big 4 key innovations are: ABAP entering the era of Agentic AI, ABAP LLMs available on GenAI Hub, ABAP AI capabilities will be supported in earlier releases, and ABAP is embracing an open IDE strategy with VS Code (Visual Studio Code). These advancements mark a milestone in the continuous work of unlocking intelligent automation, more productivity, and smarter enterprise solutions. SAP´s Sonja Lienard, published a full blog post with all the main details. If you have always been an ABAP fan and have been looking for a more modern experience, this is a must read!

SAP Community Clubhouse highlights

For our SAP community, SAP TechEd in Berlin meant more than learning and developing skills, it was also an amazing opportunity to experience real-life connections with people who have been connected online for so many years. Inside the SAP Community, all members get to experience the feeling of being supported and offering help, while gaining valuable insights just through sharing and exchanging blog posts, forums, groups, and much more. At the SAP Community Clubhouse, all this experience was reflected in the interactions, presentations, and small chats. Our team is incredibly happy and grateful to everyone who could join. We know that being present at events like this can take a lot of work, and we highly appreciate everyone’s effort in participating and bringing so much positive energy.

SAP Mentor Björn Schulz wrote an amazing recap (read the full blog post here) and shared some of his favorite parts of his first time at SAP TechEd. Check out some of his highlights:

  • The Developer Keynote creatively showcased teamwork across technologies like HANA Cloud, AI, and Process Automation, embracing real-world “developer mistakes” that made it relatable.
  • The Joule LLM for ABAP Developers promises smarter, context-aware coding support within the Business Technology Platform.
  • Despite logistical hiccups, SAP TechEd 2025 offered valuable learning, networking, and a glimpse into the next era of ABAP and AI integration. The community spirit and new developer tools made it a rewarding experience.

  • Filter My Content by Interaction Style: Allows to filter the My Content Page by distinct types of interaction (e.g., Answers and Replies), which makes it easier to find posts you have created.
  • SAP Managed Tag Page: Now the width of the page has been extended to give a better overview of the list.
  • TKB Documents: The last edited date has been added to TKB Documents, so now members can be more certain about when the information has been published and is still relatable.
