New or not to the SAP Community, share your story!

For some of us the SAP Community started off way back in 2003/2004 as the SAP Developer Network (SDN). Later after the Business Objects Community and others merged together it became the SAP Community Network (SCN) - then in 2016 it simply became the SAP Community.

I've personally seen a lot of changes to the environment over all these years but one thing has always remained constant - this is a place where you can come to ask questions, meet others and exchange knowledge.

Over the years we've had things like "Blog it Forward" that let people introduce themselves to each other. We've also had over the years forum threads and things like that to say hello.

We've even created some tutorials to help new comers as well as those like myself take more advantage of the community. Have you taken these 4 tutorials?

Me? Well I started my path into the SAP way back in 2002/2003 when my company told me to learn it so I could install it when I cam back from my project in Germany. I'm sure some noticed the odd bit about that statement. Needless to say I dove in and as luck would have it, SAP had just launched their beta of a Community (SDN) so coming from a web application background I felt at home to go figure things out.

@Former Member Was actually one of the first people who helped me to figure things out, my question asking left a lot to be desired as I had no clue about terminology or anything else in the SAP world. Then it was a post by @qmacro about RSS and RFC's that really got me more comfortable and then I just went crazy sharing my experiences and learnings via the blog posts.

I'm Steigleder, and I've been venturing into this SAP world since the year 2000. I started my journey as an ABAP developer, after a few years becoming a functional consultant in Finance. I am currently working as a project manager. My purpose is to encourage the practice and adoption of SAP S/4HANA cloud, public edition in Brazil.

I have been using SAP Business One since 2020, previously we used another version of SAP.
I use it for manufacturing orders, delivery notes, allocation of materials and other things.
But I would like to go one step further and create some queries to get some reports, but I can't join two queries and I don't know where I could consult

My name is Jessy. I'm a 32 year old user assistance designer working on SAP Analytics Cloud. I've joined SAP ten year ago now, time flies... I joined fresh out of university as an intern.

I started my career working the documentation of the BI Suite, specifically Web Intelligence, and then moved on to SAP Analytics Cloud 5 or 6 years ago. It's definitely been an interesting and challenging journey so far.

I have lived in Germany for three years now, completed my bachelors and have now joined my team as a masters student studying economics. Last year, I completed my BSc (Hons) in Computing in Software Development in the fabulous east of Ireland 🇮🇪 After my graduation, I joined a great team specializing in optimizing business intelligence solutions. Hi, all!

I am a total SAP newcomer, and a bit overwhelmed with the varying pages I am ending up on as I read and click my way through.  It is possible that I've worked with SAP in previous jobs when I was a Kelly Services Temp years ago.  I don't really have proof.  If I did, I am sure the interface has changed tremendously!

I recently find myself unemployed (it's a long story, and I am giving myself grace, since I left due to the untenable, toxic work environment).  While I recover and reset, I have begun to work on improving my employability bit by bit, and currently, I find myself looking for work in the private sector. Unfortunately, for the better part of the last 14 or so years, I was sidelined in state- and federal employment, and I didn't have exposure to the SAP to my knowledge.

I recently obtained formal degrees, first a BA in Accounting and then, during Covid, I finished an MBA, so now it's more about the hands on, marketable portfolio upgrade 😉

My immediate goal (understandibly) is to figure out, how to get some sort of beginner certification on my literal $0 budget.  I managed to figure out that I needed to sign up with SAP, which I did, but I am still confused.   So many windows open now, and so many options... I lost track of the page that says that as a woman, I can get a code to certify for free.   It said something about to "enable private messaging", but I can't figure out where that is...  

In the meantime, I think joining this blog will hopefully help/be of use, and I kind of think I ended up here by "following the ball" via clicking on successive links within said page, so I am not all wrong, I hope.

It is all very confusing.  I am not a social media or blogger person, either.  My ex stalked me for many years, and I did my best to keep a low profile.  In retrospect, that really handicapped me.  I do know that I can learn, though, and I am an ace in Excel and Microsoft software in general, or so I am told 😉  So, I am determined, lol.

I am originally from Germany, but moved to West Virginia for many years...it looks a lot like home.  After living in the North Central WV area mostly, I have recently moved to the Eastern WV panhandle, pretty much next door to what the locals term the DMV, since it's near Washington, D.C.  I am somewhat of a hermit and prefer the slower pace of the back country, so the panhandle is actually feeling a bit too busy for me...  Well, I am here now, with my mortgage and all, but I don't see myself commuting into the DMV!  Onward, right!?!

If there is a local SAP group, it would be interesting to see, how to join/find them...maybe.  Hagerstown or Martinsburg would be good, for starters.  Anything further East is going to be not so convenient...

Originally I am originally from Mumbai, Pune'  twin city in INDIA, where I was born & bought up.

I have migrated to Pune 6 years back for good.

I love  Pune, for it's pleasant ,cool weather, relatively lesser people congestion as compared to Mumbai or other populated cities, for it's IT HUB and automotive manufacturing companies & overall other oppournities that it offers.

Also it's famous for it's culture & heritage.

I have joined the world of SAP in July 2007, since then it's been a roller coaster ride in SAP across 3 Global  organizations', working on some bigger accounts on 1 ECC and 3 S4 HANA implementation project.

I have enjoyed the SAP journey so far & excited for the time ahead!!!

SAP always bring new things to learn and grow for it's consultants .

And SAP Community platform is a excellent way to be in touch in the SAP fellow consultants 

to share NEWS,VIEWS on various SAP products.

I feel happy to join this SAP blogger community so that I can learn from others and contribute by posting SAP blogs.
