As a Mechanical Engineering graduate, I was always fascinated by the intricate processes behind large-scale warehouse operations. My curiosity about how these massive operations are monitored and digitalized led me to explore the systems that make it all possible. That's when I discovered SAP and its transformative impact on warehouse management.
I was particularly drawn to SAP Extended Warehouse Management (EWM), which handles complex warehouse processes with remarkable efficiency. The ability of SAP EWM to streamline inventory, optimize resources, and ensure smooth inbound and outbound processes opened my eyes to the powerful role technology plays in modern supply chains.
This introduction to SAP EWM marked the beginning of my journey into the SAP ecosystem. Since then, I've been passionate about learning how digital solutions like SAP EWM revolutionize warehouse management and logistics, ensuring seamless operations in supply chain industries worldwide.

I started my career with Infosys in their beautiful Mysore campus back in 2014, where during conversation with my seniors i heard first time about SAP.
Fun Fact- I printed a black Polo t-shirt which said "SAP - Simply Awesome Programmers" for my whole batch of 80 colleagues.

Hi everyone, I'm Omar. My SAP journey began when I was job hunting outside Morocco. I discovered that many companies required SAP knowledge, which sparked my interest in this technology. My goal evolved from simply being an SAP user to becoming a consultant.
I completed an 8-month professional certificate course in SAP consulting on Coursera. This gave me a solid foundation in SAP, including understanding its structure and the process of solution implementation.
Now I'm looking for ways to gain real-world, practical experience. I'd love to hear any suggestions you have on how to bridge the gap between my training and real-world application.

@Omarjeldrs your commitment shows for learning. It would be great if you could share your learning journey in the community for others to try and emulate. As an idea you could share Career Corner - SAP Community and share in your social media to get others engaged.
One idea for you is to join or create a local SAP chapter - Location Groups | SAP Community
@lauraschmitz getting you in the loop for suggestions.
Best of luck.

Thank you so much for your encouraging response and the valuable suggestions! I really appreciate it.
I think sharing my learning journey is a fantastic idea. I'd be happy to contribute to the community by documenting my progress and the resources I find helpful. I'll definitely check out the "Career Corner" section and consider sharing my experiences there and on social media.
Regarding the "Location Groups," I explored the page, but I noticed there isn't a dedicated board for Africa. While there are boards for America, Europe, and Asia, it seems Africa is currently unrepresented.
Thank you for bringing @lauraschmitz into the conversation. I look forward to any additional suggestions they might have.
I'm excited to continue my SAP learning journey and contribute to this vibrant community.

Hi Ruthvik, I first heard of SAP while working at Storage Technology Corporation, in the mid 90s! I was working at Storage as a Field Support Analyst for Service Billing on the Tape Library's we sold, and they decided to replace their home grown legacy systems with SAP 3.1H. Turned out SAP released Service Management with 3.1 H and I was invited to join the program and learn how to implement Order to Cash and Service Management! It was the beginning of my long association with SAP. I worked for the mother ship from 2003 until 2017! I now help SAP customers, locally, as an SAP Testing Project Manager!

Lorie, you've had a great SAP career already. I also got involved with SAP in the late 90s at a customer when I learned as a user MM. Be sure to join the many Interest Groups | SAP Community
Your engagement with end users about your areas of expertise is fantastic as well. Together we can learn and be better! Best of luck!

Interesting question. I had to dig up some dead brain cells to answer this question. I moved 3 miles from SAP NSQ01 several years ago but never gave it much thought. I knew they were a software development company, but although I have a technical background I was gainfully employed as didn't give SAP much thought. Little did I know that many years later I would find another chapter of my life here at SAP.

I used SAP as an accountant 10 years ago not knowing that I will become an SAP Consultant 2 years later.
Eight years of fulfilment. Enjoying the journey!
