Dear SAP Community,

as part of my dissertation, I have been analyzing the SAP Community for quite some time. In our most recent study, we examined how different user roles and media types influence the value of answers that were posted in the SAP Community. While controling for several linguistic features such as sentiment, our findings show that lead users (community influencers) and sponsor represenatives (SAP employees) are significantly more likely to provide valuable answers to the community than normal users. Moreover, we find a positive effect for media enrichments such as hyperlinks, attachments, or code snippets on the valuation of answers.

For our analysis, we used a sample of 1.1 million answers that were posted between April 2012 and March 2016. Hence, our data reflects the situation before the big relaunch. We relied on a combination of statistical and computational techniques, whereby we used the upvotes and best answer attribute as the dependent variable. The full-text with the details of our study is available for free on ResearchGate: https://www.researchgate.net/publication/370130346_Knowledge_Sharing_in_Platform_Ecosystems_through_...

I hope that our findings inspire you to (a) attain a community influencer status and (b) to enrich your answers with media such as hyperlinks, attachments, or code snippets. I would also like to thank all contributors of the SAP Community. Without you, there would be no data for me to analysis.

If you have any questions about our study, feel free to reach out to me. I am happy to discuss.

Best regards

Martin
