Dear Community Friends,

You have been very supportive throughout the SCN gamification project, providing feedback, encouraging us as soon as we announced the go-live date, and you continued providing feedback and suggestions after the launch on April 28. Thank you! Since good news must be shared with friends, I want to tell you how pleased I am with the results given by the recent introduction of game mechanics on SCN.

First of all, many of you welcomed the new SCN experience, and to the risk of annoying my colleagues once more with this quote, one of you even told us that he was felling "5 years younger" today. How cool is that? In addition to helping you with your SAP implementations, one dose of SCN every day has a rejuvenative effect!

And it gets better!

Gamification was introduced to encourage good community behavior, drive member participation and engagement around content, and help you continue to grow your reputation. The results after a month are very encouraging:

Content creation, comments and feedback increased by 400%.

Community feedback:

Very useful to surface quality content, feedback rose by 96%.

Points and Badges:

Of course, you scored more points by engaging more and completing missions such as "Ready, Set, Go!" (a series of 3 missions) for onboarding or content missions such as "I Blogged!" and "In a Blogging Mood". You earned over 50,000 badges in total over the first month.

None of this would have been possible without the hard work and dedication that the core team members put in this project. oddss and sean.yang15 worked with me around the clock, at insane hours, and diligently through a list of To Dos that never got shorter. We are very complementary, and worked together with one goal in mind: a successful launch and a quality reputation program. Thank you guys! I owe you my French crepes and we still have a bottle of champagne to open.

I also want to thank jason.cao, katya.shmuel and maya.bahar who helped put together these reports. You validated the success of this project, without these numbers it wouldn't have been the same. Thanks!

Last but not least, and I will stop here, thank you jeanne.carboni for your support and encouragements as always.

Now I want to encourage everyone to play along! This is not a game, this is just a better experience and more fun on SCN. Don't sweat about badges that you think are difficult to get, you will get there naturally over the time. They were not created for everyone to get them right away! And please continue being who you are: Provide good quality content, encourage fellow contributors - a single comment to a first blog can be very rewarding for the author - and continue giving more feedback. With the auto log-on it should now be part of your DNA to like, rate, and hopefully comment!
