Future of SCN - Another Update #1DXCOMMDEST

I'm sure many of you have seen maggiefox's blog about the future of SAP's Community. I'm thrilled to be leading the project and working with the team who many of you have recognized as the "dream team". But more importantly, I'm excited about bringing our community to the next level.

So what does that mean, "bringing our community to the next level"?

The key elements of the next level for community include:

• recognizing and formalizing community visitors, members, SAP mentors, and moderators, as critical SAP stakeholders for "our community"
• making it easier for everyone to work with SAP by improving the way you find, share, contribute and follow content, other members and topics
• being transparent in what will be delivered

Our Community

First and foremost, it is "our" community, meaning that it belongs to SAP and the community members who care passionately about it - those of you who contribute by sharing your knowledge with those who visit and use that knowledge to make their companies run better.

Because this is "our" community, we are forming an SCN Strategic Advisory board of 12 members, chosen by marilyn.pratt. Although Marilyn is retiring on March 31, 2015, she will continue as a volunteer with community as the SCN Strategic Advisor, forming the board by April and supporting the relationship between SAP, the board and the Community at large. The board will serve in the following capacity:

• Use Community beta platform
• Participate in sprint showcases, testing and feedback
• Provide input into launch strategy and timing
• Advocate for the community at large
• Communicate to the Community about upcoming changes

The SCN team, under my leadership will continue to have final authority over the process and responsibility for official communication, but will listen and take action based on the advisory board recommendations.

The diagram below depicts our sprint cycles to deliver improved functionality and the formal kickoff that includes the board, representing our community members in April 2015.

Not one of the 12 on the advisory board? Don't worry, there will be plenty of opportunities for participation and feedback. You can start by commenting in our discussion thread. Additionally we will be setting up UX testing of the site map and blogs in April.

Making it Easier to Work with SAP and Each Other

From a functional perspective, we will provide a best-in-breed approach for blogs and Q&A, and a custom integration layer that uses corporate metadata to link everything together seamlessly. Stay tuned for more of the technical details from oliver in his upcoming blog later this month.

Transparency

We will keep the lines of communication open with you. krysten.bradley2 is our communications and change management lead. She is compiling a complete schedule of communications that include blogs and live sessions at least once per month.
