I am Sandra Solís, an ABAP developer from Mexico.
My expertise is in ABAP, SAP HANA and ABAP Cloud. When I was a kid, I knew computers and my curiosity to know how they work made me decide at 10 years old that I wanted to become a developer or someone working with computers. So, from high school to university, I focused entirely on learning about computers and everything related to them, especially programming. I was introduced to SAP 11 years ago, when I was looking for a job after I graduated as a Systems Engineer, a friend invited me to work with him on an SAP consultant enterprise. I did interviews and I got the job as an ABAP developer even though I didn’t know anything about it! But they trained me and that's how I became an ABAP developer. I got to know this world of SAP and I loved it.
However, my journey wasn’t always easy, when my boss asked me to get certified I got a huge surprise when I failed the exam, not once, not twice, but 3 times! A few years later, I decided to try to get certified again, but I made some changes. First I started looking for resources and I found the SAP Community and SAP Learning.
Second I started to draw all I read and learned, and combined with my passion for my job, I created my YouTube channel called “Mundo Abaper” (Abaper world) to share in Spanish what I was studying with visuals to people who learn visually like me who had failed their exams. When I realized people started following me, I started to create videos teaching ABAP and some tips and hacks I have learned. Thanks to this, I found my own community which I call #ABAPlovers and every day I make my videos thinking of how I can improve myself, share better content and help the ABAP community.
BTW, if you knew my YT channel and you are an #ABAPlover❤️, let me know in the comments👇😉
A fun fact about me is that I love painting and drawing. Painting helps me stop thinking and enjoy a relaxing moment. I can paint from simple things and landscapes to portraits of people. I have a tiny sketchbook where I paint the places I have visited.
On a fun day I painted the portraits of some SAP Developer Advocates with our favorite drink, Coffee. Yes! Coffee can also be used to paint. I delivered the paintings to them in person and they loved it.
I have two pet turtles, they are so big, cute and friendly, they even give me their paws.
Additionally, I love everything related to horror content like books, movies, series or real stories. I enjoy exercising, especially dance and boxing classes. Creating content for my YouTube channel and engaging with the SAP Community are also a big part of my life and I follow a dedicated skincare and anti-aging routine as part of my commitment to self-care and well-being.
Another fun fact about me is that I won Devtoberfest 2 times! Thanks to this, the first time I went to Hana House, LA and I met advocates Thomas Jung and Michelle Moudy, and an amazing group of winners. We all went to Disney and we had a lot of fun.
The second time, I went to SAP TechEd in 2024 in West Palm Beach, FL. All the winners got to meet the SAP Developer Advocates: Rich, Josh, Thomas, Witaly, Nora and Michelle, and we spent a lot of time with all of them!! I was really happy to meet them and we all went together to Disney !!!
Also, I made a video sharing my career success with SAP you can check it out here: From a Failed Exam to a Successful Career: Sandra'... - SAP Community and I was on an episode of SAP Code talk podcast with Antonio Maradiaga!! SAP CodeTalk with Sandra Solis.
This is me so far, and I hope you're enjoying the blog! But stay with me, there's a few more below.
If you were 20 again, what would you study?
A thousand times the same: Programming. But also, I’d focus on ABAP and dive into digital creation to enhance my video production.
What is your personal life dream?
My personal life dream is to achieve happiness and fulfillment. I want to create a balance between work and well-being. I aim to enjoy life and experience personal freedom, without being tied to conventional work norms. Above all, my dream is to continue growing emotionally and enjoy every moment of my life.
What is your professional life dream?
My professional life dream is to become the most recognized Latina, Mexican expert in the technical SAP field, contribute to the growth of the tech industry, and have the freedom to work creating impactful educational SAP content that will benefit the developer community.
I also dream of encouraging people from Latam to explore all the SAP resources available to them, such as SAP Learning, developer tutorials, free trials, and more—many of which they might not even be aware of. I want to motivate them to participate in and attend SAP events like SAP TechEd, Devtoberfest contests, SAP Inside Tracks, and more. Additionally, I hope to inspire and encourage Latam professionals to stay active in the SAP Community and connect with the amazing Mentors, Champions, and Developer Advocates (little secret, I’m a big fan of). Can you believe that many people in Latam don’t even know about all of this?!
What do you most enjoy about the SAP Community?
All the resources they share like SAP learning, developer tutorials, the blogs and all answers the community provides. Also, all the events like SAP TechEd virtual and Devtoberfest - all of this is full of knowledge.
This is me so far, and I hope you have enjoyed!! 🥰

And now, I would like to Blog it Forward to my friend, and SAP Mentor: Raquel Cunha !! She is an active SAP Community contributor and passionate SAP Community.
