Hello Community!
While quarantine-bored people start posting their pillow-covered pics on Instagram (you probably never heard on this "pillow" challenge, but it exists
🙂 ), I have decided to finally accept the BIF
challenge from
vitaliy.rudnytskiy and blog it forward. So some pics of myself, SAP, and Community :).
About me:
- From Minsk, Belarus. Was born here, live here and who knows, maybe even will retire here. Nice city, clean, green and very safe
- Doing SAP for 18+ years, all over the world in all continents. At the moment leading the SAP Competency Center at EPAM, one of the biggest IT service companies in CEE.
- Founder and driver of the SAP Tech Talks community. That's how I met with Witalij who volunteered to be the speaker at one of our events just before the quarantine. We moved this event to the future and online, so Witalij will still use his chance to present his favorite "SAP HANA Advanced Analytics" online on June 19 🙂
- SAP Tech Talks is like me, born in Minsk and mostly Russian-speaking (but not only, e.g. Witalij will give his speech in English), but traveling a lot and available everywhere. Here in Minsk, on a quarterly basis, we have nice offline meetups with 100+ participants, pizza, quizzes, prizes, and a great possibility for networking. Our online tech talks are held more often and indeed available globally. Feel free to join us on social networks (Facebook, LinkedIn, Telegram, etc. the full list is here), but sorry in advance for my Russian :).
- It is not my first post here at SAP Blogs: almost 3 years back I wrote an article about "SAP Customizing documentation generator", so this one is the second.
- Driving old Mazda which I promise myself to change every year, but never can find a passion and time to accomplish, as it behaves well and never really upsets me. But I promise again, this year I will change the car 🙂
Some selfies of myself from our SAP meetups in Minsk:
And one from the special event last summer. Minsk is below, some of my SAP peers are flying above.
And finally 3 questions from Witalij:
1) What do you like most about the city you live and work in?
Well, it is home and I love it and feel safe and calm here. But the climate is complicated... So, the best thing about Minsk for me is the possibility to fly away to the southern skies for some time, to stay there for the whole winter and come back to the native places which I really miss while abroad. Just like birds :). Where else can you feel yourself like a bird if not flying away from the home in winter?
🙂
2) What was your biggest surprise/discovery while organizing/attending community events so far?
I started at the end of 2018 and that was all new for me. However, I was very surprised by the maturity of the IT-communities movement in Belarus. Not being the most open country in the world, surprisingly IT-communities, as well as people driving them, are very advanced.
3) What is your hobby or favorite activity outside of the work?
All my life I was doing a lot of sports and it helped me to stay fit and somehow spend my energy. Boxing is my favorite, although I started quite late when I was already 20+. At the moment, unfortunately, due to some reasons I stopped training, but keep watching. And the excess of energy I have enables me to spend in the community and blogging
🙂
The BIF goes to...
dzmitry.baliuk - It has been 3+ years from your first blog post, maybe it is the right time for the second one? Blog it forward, promote our country and answer these 3 questions from
susan.keohan‘s BIF
sequel post:
- Which 5 things do you absolutely want to achieve in life?
- What is the best lesson your parents taught you?
- If you could be a superhero (or are in your spare time) who would you be?
