Hi!
I was blogged forward by moshe.naveh. This blog is a part of the "Blog It Forward" challenge.
My name is Anne Hardy. I grew up in France, fell into Computer Sciences when I was 16 and somehow never got out of it. I moved to the US twice, once in 1994 and a second time in 2007. In-between I moved back to France with my family: we wanted to be sure about where we wanted to live. Currently I am happy at SAP and in California. I lead SAP's Developer Experience; my team is an amazing and diverse bunch of technologists and innovation leaders. Our job is to “developerize SAP”, i.e. excite developers about SAP technologies and platforms. We run many programs, including InnoJam events, the Developer Center and Code Exchange.
As side jobs, I am a member of the Advisory Board of the Anita Borg Institute. This year I chaired the Industry Advisory Board of the Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing. Back in 2010 I created and chaired the first Dare 2B Digital conference.
I have been married for 21 years. I am the mother of two teenagers, one sophomore in high-school, another one freshman at McGill University in Montreal.
Besides work and family I run, bike, practice Yoga and Meditation, and cook.
And here I am with my family!
What was my dream job as a kid?
When I was a child I was dreaming about flying to the Moon. I was not sure then if that could be a job but it did not matter much to me. I started pilot lessons when I was 14. I spent summers doing hang gliding and paragliding. When I saw the movie "The Right Stuff", Yeager became my hero and role model and I decided to become a test pilot. Unfortunately I had to change my plans when I was -wrongly- informed by a French Army officer presenting at a job fair, that women were not allowed to become test pilots. I guess if Internet had existed then i would have known that Jacqueline Auriol proved him wrong by having become the first french woman test pilot in the 50s... Well... my teenager's hormones helping I moved away from the moon and started to play with computers...
I love l'Ile de Porcros. It is a small island and national park on the Mediterranean sea, across Hyeres in the South of France. Beautiful place, really!
In general I love Nature. I plan to visit all US National Parks...
I try to have fun everyday with everything I do. I don't succeed 24 by 7 but I tend to enjoy my days, at work and outside. Anyway, I can't last very long when doing something that is not fun; it makes me feel like I am dying... So my motto is: have fun and make at least another person smile every day!
If I went back to school now I would study Neurosciences...
I want to go to Rio for the 2016 Summer Olympics... I know I missed London, what a pity! But I won't miss Rio, no way! I love sports, most sports. I did competitive gymnastics for 12 years and even though I never encouraged my kids to practice this crazy sport, I enjoy watching it.
I love to cook and I cook french even though it is not well suited for my vegan diet...
I would like to blog it forward to my team gigi.readjuergen.schmerderingo.sauerzapfrocky.ongkowidjojoinga.berezakai-yin.gaumario.hergerhester.hilbrechtmichael.flynn95alex.zhujohn.mayerhoferkarin.schattkaalvaro.tejadagalindovitaliy.rudnytskiyuwe.kylaujulienjean-pierre.vayssiererui.nogueiramichael.byczkowski , and a few other extraordinary people who deserve to be known by all: Nicolette VanExel (not yet on SCN?), Mary Ruiz (not on SCN neither???), marek.kowalkiewicz, yusuf.
Since they are all very bright and creative, I'll leave it to them to define the questions that they want to answer.
Thank you Moshe for taking this great initiative!
-anne
