Hi all,
Do you use the APQC PCF - www.apqc.org? What are your experiences? How exactly do you use this framework?
Request clarification before answering.
Hi Steffen,
APQC PCF is a great starting point for many of our clients who are starting their BPM journey. Organisations who buy signavio, but don't have any existing process taxonomy, look towards the APQC PCF to get a leg up.
Downloading the APQC PCF from their website in an excel format and then uploading that excel into SAP Signavio Process Manager via the "Import APQC Excel" is an absolute game-changer. The simple reason is that SAP Signavio auto-creates the whole process taxonomy from Level 1 (VAC) to Level 4 (BPMN) within minutes via the import tool. Then they use this PCF as a baseline or modify it to suit their organizational structures. But, as a value add, it is always good to start off with something instead of a blank slate.
I have used the APQC excel import option in Process Manager, many times in the past year and I always recommend these to my prospects.
Cheers, Projit

Hi Steffen,
we used it as a reference to structure our processes top down.
Essentially we used it almost until level 3 and and did some changes like:
- wording
- excluding processes that are not relevant for our business
- including missing processes
After we aligned with all stakeholder we mapped existing level 4 processes from Siganvio and Solution Manager.
We still see some gaps in Level 4 coverage, but they are constantly filled by operation and projects.
Best
Steven

Yes. We use APQC with Signavio. The following worked for us
1) We imported the entire APQC list into the Dictionary
2) We created a top level folder structure the matches the 13 APQC categories
3) We then created an APQC attribute at the diagram level so each process can be tagged
4) The name of each process is also prepended with the selected APQC number and placed the appropriate folder
5) The Initial matching of each process with APQC is manual and is based on what we are designing and the APQC description. (This takes about 5 minutes)

Hello krutki,
I tried using the APQC industry specific best practice content by importing their content into Solman, but I wasn't successful in uploading their excel format.
APQC content seems to be well structured for every industry.
So if you are succesful in decoding their excel format, please update me as how you did.
Thanks,
Vignesh
