XML attachment special characters not displaying properly

Hey all,

does anyone have experience with creating an XML attachment file in a custom work center ?

I currently want to create an XML for tax authorities but the special characters are not being displayed correctly in the generated XML file attachment. Mostly the problem is in some special german and portugese characters.

Now I know I can manually replace the characters in strings that come from byd fields, but I was hoping that there is a way to fix this without working like a cave man on each specific tag.

I have set the advanced save options just in case to the encoding 1252 windows, perhaps I can try something else but to my understanding this shouldnt influence the generated XML at all since I am not hardcoding most of the strings in the generated XML file.

Any ideas how to generate an xml attachment so that german and portugese special characters are displayed properly in the xml, not as gibersih ?
