XI-3.0 Vs PI-7.0 Vs PI-7.1

Hi All,

I have few concerns regarding the recent version of SAP XI.

1. Is PI 7.1 is release in market for customer use.

2. If not then when it is expected to released in market.

3. What are the advance/additional features for PI 7.1.

4. What else will we get as an additional feature in PI 7.0.

5. What are the basic/advance features in PI 7.0 than XI 3.0.

XI 3.0 Versus PI 7.0

I have found few points from different threads. If there is anything please dotted it out.

XI runs on Netweaver 2004 and PI runs on Netweaver 2004s.

They basically have the same technical functionality but when SAP launched Netweaver 2004s, to bring all objects of Netweaver 2004s in Synchronous with the WAS version, XI was renamed to Process Integration (PI 7.0) . Currently every SP release of XI has a corresponding release for PI and they both support the same functionalities.

Check these comparisions.

XI PI

SP12 & < - SP04

SP13 + 14 - SP05

SP15 - SP06

SP16 - SP07

SP17 - SP08

SP18 - SP09

Few added features have been added to PI 7.0

• Adapter Enhancements like JMS, JDBC, Oracle-JDBC and CIDX Enhancements

• Receiver Determination Enhancements

• Multi mapping

• User defined enhancements

• Unbounded Processes (Integration Processes).

• XI3.0 is based on WAS(web application server)6.40 - NW2004 where

as PI7.0 is based on WAS(web application server)7.0 - NW2004's

• The main difference between 3.0 and 7.0 is the GUI in SLD.

• In 7.0 we can schedule a background job and edit the payload.

Can please let me know when the new version PI 7.0 got release for customer use.

& Do you have any document/reference with stating the advance feature added in PI7.0

Hi,

U have already mentioned the featurs of PI 7.0, apart from that there is not other difference between Xi n PI 7.0

but if u compare Xi,PI 7.0 with PI 7.1 then there are many changes and i think i have provided u the consolidated list of featurs.

Hi,

I was just checking the releases of the Netweaver version and found that the most recent version PI7.1 just release to customer on date 13/10/2008. i.e. just before 7days.

Anyway thanks a lot for all your valuable answer .,, point will be assigned to all of you .

Just a quick question to all , i am not geting what BENIFITS we will get if we will upgrade to PI 7.0 from XI 3.0.

And what are the CHALLENGES that we can faced in this..

PI7.1 in only ramp up version.

not released till, and going to release might be mid 2009
