Why are the Energy Data Management (EDM) Profile remote extractors marked obsolete?

Hi,

We are implementing the Energy Data Management (EDM) module, and would like to use the Profile Values RemoteCube (0UCEDMVC2) to obtain interval reading data.

However, this cube is located in an InfoArea titled 'Obsolete InfoProvider/InfoObjects - Do Not Use'. I've tried to research this cube, but other than seeing references to it being obsolete, I can't find any information on why it is obsolete (other than possibly being replaced by HANA).

Can anyone provide additional information on why this cube is obsolete, and any issues our company may face if we decide to use it anyway? If we do use the cube, my plan would be to make a copy of it and place it inside our CRB InfoArea.

The underlying data sources are still available for us (we are running them in sandbox), but we are not on HANA. I had an expert chat with SAP yesterday and asked them if this was specific to HANA. They said no, but they also admitted information on this topic is very sparse.

They opened a ticket for me on the topic; I'll try and update this post if they provide any more information.

There is a note saying that the underlying datasources (0UC_EDM_01, 0UC_EDM_02) are not available anymore:

2270505 - S4TWL - IS-U Stock, Transaction and Master Data Statistics (UIS, BW)

Unfortunately this doesn't give any information why.
