Which view is mandatory to expose our data to fiori application

Hi Experts,

I created a composite view, by using composite view only, Iam able to expose my data to Fiori application.
normally composite view takes the data from the basic view. In my scenario Iam not using any basic view but it is displaying the data. why and how it is displaying the data. What is the main use of basic, composite and consumption views. Is it necessary to use all CDS view to display the data.
