Where should we install SAP FIORI?

Dear Experts,

We are new to SAP S/4 HANA. We are planning to set up the Fiori application because we can’t complete some transactions without it such as house banks.

I’ve read several tutorials on the internet but I can’t find the answer. Where should we install or set up the Fiori? Is it in the current client we are using? Or this should be installed in client 000 wherein you can just simply do the copy client. Kindly advise the best practice in doing this.

We are planning to do the Fiori on premise instead of fiori on cloud. Our Hana version is 1709 OP. I’ve already downloaded the web dispatcher etc for the prerequisite part and other helpful guide/reading materials (like for front and back end)

Also, do we need solman for Fiori? As per the guide I’ve read, I know the Solman is using mix fiori applications and solman services. Solman has its own fiori launchpad. I’m assuming some transactions in solman can’t be completed without fiori. But for the purpose of installing and activating the fiori, do we really need solman?

I’m not a basis or fiori consultant. I’m a functional consultant specializing in logistic modules.

Thank you so much for your help.

Hi Dan,

the easiest approach in your case would be to activate the SAP Fiori Launchpad and SAP Gateway directly in the S/4HANA Client. Please check for this the EA Explorer topic on Embedded Deployment. Your Basis Admins should check my TechEd 2016 presentation at ahttps://gregorwolf.github.io/UX210/#/6/4 with the Task Lists. It's the most efficient way to activate SAP Fiori Launchpad, SAP Gateway and the need apps. I strongly believe that you already have Solution Manager in place as it was used to get S/4HANA installed.

Thanks Gregor for your response. I’m sorry I’m not a technical person. What do you mean by directly to your s/4 hana client. I’m confused. We have a DEV box now with clients namely 301 and 302. You mean I can activate Fiori directly to 301? Then if I need fiori for example in 302. Then I should activate fiori again in that client? Can I activate fiori in 000 so I can copy client it?

I think I’ve read that. Executing the task lists tru tcode STC01. I’m following this guide.

I would suggest that you involve a technically experienced SAP Basis Consultant into this. But you're right you have to activate the SAP Fiori Launchpad in each client. But it should be done after a client copy. What is the purpose of the second client?

Thanks Gregor for the confirmation that the Fiori launchpad should be activated in each client.

Actually I’m helping our basis consultant in this research/study. We’re all new to HANA Implementation.

Also this guide will be really useful . Setting up fiori in multiple clients. https://www.sap.com/documents/2017/12/8a221c3a-e47c-0010-82c7-eda71af511fa.html

Dan,

Just out of curiosity did you find this document under one of the tutorials on how to setup Fiori (So assumption is you need NetWeaver Gateway and others)?

Check this reference note: https://launchpad.support.sap.com/#/notes/2456330

This should at least let you know what is required plus the Fiori apps library link:

https://fioriappslibrary.hana.ondemand.com/sap/fix/externalViewer/#

- once you choose the application that you want go to the installation section and click on Implementation -> Installation to see what you need to be installed. You can even use the Maintenance planner ->

https://youtu.be/I2azTzV5P70 (video tutorial).

Hope this helps out.

Hi Mark. Thanks for the response. I’m following this guide. https://help.sap.com/viewer/9b4ee51ce91e4a9cadd5e6d43c2992ba/5_OVERVIEW/en-US/377b4352b4e61b13e10000...

I just don’t know where should the basis perform this. In the current client or in 000. The guide didn’t specify the client. They just gave instructions on how to perform. I don’t know if fiori is a cross client configuration. Or we need to perform the activation again for every client. Sorry for these questions. Thank you for your given references. The planner will surely help us a lot.

The guide shows at least a Netweaver gateway that you need to install. From here, the guide will ask you to perform the needed services activation based on the Fiori apps you wanted to be installed. The planner should at least help here.

With respect to where you want to install, it is assumed that you have a client that you can install your Netweaver gateway on and please also note that there is different landscape options from HUB to Embedded. It is required that your landscape setup needs to be verified so you may plan accordingly. Lots of blogs in SAP on Fiori landscape and others.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Mark
