What would cause long delay after final checkpoint?

What would cause a 10 minute delay between the last "Finished checkpoint" message and the subsequent "Database server stopped"?

I. 12/05 13:49:32. Finished checkpoint of "f" (foxhound5.db) at Sat Dec 05 2020 13:49
I. 12/05 13:59:13. Database server stopped at Sat Dec 05 2020 13:59

As far as I can tell, dbsrv17.exe was pounding the *.db file for the whole time... is it possible the last "Finished checkpoint" message is sent long before the disk I/O is complete?

Here's more of the log...

In recent versions of the database server (17.0.9.4937 or later), the -z option causes a lot more shutdown messages to appear in the server log. I realize the horse has already left the barn, but for the future, this may be a useful thing to enable. This enhancement should appear under the title "database server subsystem shutdown logging" in the release notes.

Thank you!

That supports my personal motto "Nothing is easy"... I waited a very long time before freezing the requirements for Foxhound 5 at "SQL Anywhere 17.0.9.4882 or better"... so of course I was outlasted by SAP 🙂
