What's the major difference between odata and S/4hana Conection in SAP Analytics cloud?

I am trying to access a custom CDS view on the S/4HANA public cloud using SAC. I noticed that both OData and S/4HANA connections can be used to access the custom CDS view. Could someone explain the differences between these two methods? Also, which method is generally recommended for accessing custom CDS views?

first option, sac connected to odata, not your cds.

second option should be better, odata conversion takes additional time(compare with direct connection),  odata is the additional layer between sac and cds.
