What is the maximum number of allowed connections to a server

Hello,

1. What is the maximum number of allowed connections to a server? The documentation doesn't seem to mention this.
2. Does this change if the server is part of a mirror/high availability group?

AFAIK, for a network server (dbrsvX.exe), the limit is based on the license model and is limited only for the per-seat model.

When using the per-seat model, I would assume the connection do count for the current primary server (unless you also have read-only connections to the mirror server).

Hi Volker,

As I understand it, a network "core" license places no limit on the number of user connections but since a connected user can generate multiple connections I am wondering if there is some "technical" limit imposed by the server (or is it "unpredictable" in that it is based on, say available RAM?).

For a core license, that is unlimited AFAIK. As to memory constraints, see Mark's answer to this FAQ.
