Breaking allows you to hierarchically format a block, including presentational changes from break to break. They are used much more for sub totals and presentational purposes within blocks than to segregate data.

Sections allow you to hierarchically format a whole report tab, allowing you to present data together where the only common element may be the section header. Very useful for items that don't naturally belong together in a table. For example, if you're reporting by country, you may have financial figures in one block and geographical statistics in another block. Both are relevant to country but neither are relevant to each other.

  • With sections you can “break” charts, with Braek's only tables
so if you want to “break” your chart into groups you will have to use the section.

  • With section it is much easier to understand data in hierarchical view since the sections can be placed under each other.

  • In sections you get an easy navigation through the map, in breaks you don’t.

  • In breaks however if you filter out a specific value in the break, the break will disappear, in sections, the section will stay, leaving the report with sections that you don’t really want to see since the section value remains.

1) Section can be applied at report level while break can be applied at block level

2) Section you can apply on graph but break you can't apply on graphs.

Rest all difference is look and feel at report level.
