Hi,
perhaps this is a silly question, but I'll post it anyway... I'm currently reading up on Web Services (in BO Data Integrator XI R2 Accelerated) and was trying to create an Webservice Adapter in the Datastores.
I'm working in repository DBODI.DI_ICT. When I execute jobs from the Designer I can only select Job Server JS_ICT@BNTBO2.
When I look at the D.I. Management Console on page http://bntbo2:28080/diAdmin/admin.jsp, I can only see job server JS_mdlg in Adapter Instances. Here I can see the Adapter Instance "WebService". I can add new Adapter Instances in the D.I. Management Console, but in D.I. Designer i cannot select any of the Adapter Instances... Why not? Because repository DBODI.DI_ICTis connected to Job Server JS_ICT @ BNTBO2. When I log on to epository DBODI.DI_MDLG then I can execute jobs against Job Server JS_MDLG @ BNTBO2 and then I can add a WebService adapter in Data Stores... But unfortunately repo JS_MDLG is off limits...
How can I change this? Where can I add adapter instances for JS_ICT ??
Kind regards,
Daniel

I don't have a remote desktop connection yet, so for the moment being I switched over to repository DI_MDLG. In this repository I can add a WebService adapter in the data stores tab. However, when I double-click the adapter datastore in Data Integrator I get an error saying "Cannot browse external metadata for adapter instance <WebService> at <BNTBO2:3500>".
When you read further you can see that the SWDL seems to be invalid : "INVALID_WSDL: Expected element 'definitions'".
Very strange because the definitions element appears in the XML file (attached).
The URL in the adapter datastore seems to be correct (http://bntbo2:28080/diAdmin/servlet/webservices?ver=1.1). The user and password are also OK. Besides, even when I enter a wrong password, then the same error appaers.
The version of BODI is XI R2 Accelerated (version 11.7.0.0). Will upgrading to Release 3 help w/ anything?

OK ! I got one step further ...
Instead of using http://bntbo2:28080/diAdmin/servlet/webservices?ver=1.1 I have now used http://bntbo2:28080/diAdmin/servlet/webservices?ver=1.1&wsdlxml and now the error has gone and connection to the WS_adapter succeeded!

This is useful. I need to get remote dektop connection to the JS machine first to check this...
Problem is, this is my 3rd day at a new client so I don't know my way around yet. Don't know which strings to pull to get something done, so i may encounter some resistance first before I get RDC to the JS machine. Thanks anyway.

It looks like your JS_ICT is not enabled to use adapters. On the job server machine you need to start the Server Manager (or svrcfg on Linux/UNIX) edit the jobserver and check the checkbox that says "Support adapter, message broker and SNMP communication". Once this is done, you will see the jobserver showing up in the management console under the adapters tree and will be able to use the WebServices adapter in Designer.
