Hi,
I am using BW 7.5 on HANA along with BusinessObjects 4.2 SP4.
I created a BEx query based on a Composite Provider and in the query I am defining exactly what characteristics and attributes I want the end user to see. E.g. for Characteristic "Project" there are 20 attributes, however I want the end user to see just 5 of them.
When I test this in RSRT or BEx analyser (which I know is coming to end of life) I see only the 5 attributes displayed for "Project" as expected. However when I create a WEBi report (using BICs connection) based on the same query it is showing me all 20 attributes.
Does anyone know how I can force WEBi to only show the attributes I have defined in the BEx query? It appears to be bypassing the BEx query for this and bringing back all attributes from the Composite Provider.
Regards,
Amit

Hi Amit,
This problem was supposed to be fixed with the BICS protocol. Check the query properties in BW and BOBJ to insure that BICS is turned on.
In the old days (BW 7.3 / BOBJ 4.0) we had to limit the BW query to only those characteristics which we wanted to use in Webi. At that time, BOBJ wanted to suck all possible data in the Webi report at the lowest possible level so the BOBJ server could slice and dice everything itself. A query with a lot of free characteristis turned into an InfoCube data dump to the BOBJ server.
