Hello Community,

Is there a specific start sequence concerning SAP Web dispatcher and the SAP Java AS Backend system?

I have not found this information anywhere in SAP documentation / notes

Is it ok to start the Web dispatcher first, and the Java AS second ? Or is it supposed to be the other way around ?

Any info is appreciated

Thank you

Hi Alexandru.

SAP Web dispatcher is not required to restart, you can restart the JAVA system.

Hi alexandrunecula

There is no rule of sequence for starting/stopping web dispatcher and backend application. Web dispatcher just routes the traffic to backend(Java in your case) and if the backend is unavailable, the URL will simply not connect .

It also depends upon your set-up. If the web dispatcher is routing to multiple another applications, you consider their availability too before you stop the web dispatcher.
