In our environment we have two Windows servers node 1 and node 2, each with its own installation of MaxDB version 7.9.09.06.
We have had a problem with node 1 and we don't have an export of the MaxDB database, but we do have a copy of the file system of the node 1 server and all the d:\sapdb\SDB\sapdata\DISKDxxxx files (there are 10 DISKD files, each one of 87.8 GB).
We have two question:
Request clarification before answering.
We can take a backup from one database, and restore to another database, so-called system copy.
However for file system copy, if you have data volume, and log volume file system backup,
then it should be possible to rebuild-recreate database based on the file system's data volume, and log volume.
The general steps like:
1. put the data volume, and log volume to maxdb related directory
2. adapt parameter of data volume, log volume to point to the correct location, each of them
=> By doing this, you have possibility to recreate database based on file system copy
However without log volume, it is nearlly impossible to rebuild this way.
If you have working node 2 database, and if the data of node 1 can be removed, then it is suggested to rebuild node 1 with node 2 's backup.
