Is it possible to use Excel files on SharePoint server as data source while creating Web Intelligence reports (BI 4.1)?
1. I read in thread that in 2012, "Webi web service data provider can only parse WSDL from QaaWS (query as web service) or BI Service (WebI blocks exposed as we services)", which basically means that data source is still constrained to those generated internally by Webi itself. Has this situation changed? Beacuse if it can support outside web service providers, we can request Excel workbook data from SharePoint and then simply give the web service URL to Webi.
2. It seems that IOMS (Integration option for microsoft sharepoint software) enables users to directly create Web Intelligence reports in the SharePoint environment. Is it possible to choose files from SharePoint list as data source? I mean, since on one hand we can now use Excel file as data source in BI4.1 SP02 for Webi, and on the other hand, we can search for content from Business Objects repository and Sharepoint content simultaneously using IOMS, is it possible to integrate these two options together...
Thanks in advance,
Zoe
