Using 0ANALYZER in BI 7.0 Query Designer and Portal

Hi Experts,

We are running BI 7.0 but rendering all our Portal Queries in 3.5 view. For this reason we are using 0ANALYZER to render the BI 7.0 queries in 3.5 look and feel on the portal.

I have a problem where Query Designer cannot execute a web version of the query as a preview, I get the following error:

<b>

Error during conversion of the Web template "0ANALYSIS_PATTERN from the master system</b>

What does this mean? Is there a problem in the conversion of 0ANALYSIS_PATTERN (which is BI 7.0 template) to 0ANALYZER (which is BI 3.5 template)?

In T-code SPRO there are two setting options: I have set the template by going into 'Set Standard Web Templates (Format SAP BW 3.x)' as being 0ANALYZER for Adhoc Analysis.

In the 'Set Standard Web Templates' setting I have not changed and left blank. Do I need to set the ADHOC ANALYSIS template as being 0ANALYZER here also. I think I don't as this is a BI 7.0 setting and the template 0ANALYZER is a 3.5 template.

How can I correct the error above and allow execution of queries on the web via Query Designer?

Thanks

Depesh

Naga,

This generic information was OK but I need to pin point an explaination or guidance for the problem I am having?

Anyone have any ideas on this as major points available!

Thanks

The new BEx tools Query Designer and Analyzer (7.0 version) uses the EP run time to execute the queries in web. There is not settings which you can change to switch this behaviour to execute the 3.X template.

You will have to manually form the URL for the 3.X version and execute it. After you create the query in 2004s QD you can use the Open link in 0ANALYZER to open the query and execute it rather than using the execute button from QD.

Hi Deepu,

We have configed the Portal to render queries in 3.5 so all the reports on the portal are in 3.5 feel. In SPRO there is a setting to change the 3x template hence I can set it there. The problem is that QD is behaving funny when executing the reports from there. It used to work but now gets confused when trying covert 0ANALYSIS_PATTERN?

How can this be addressed?

Thanks

BI 7.0 Query Designer is hard coded to use the Portal based iView which uses 0ANALYSIS_PATTERN for executing queries on web.

There is no SPRO settings to change this, you are only changing the SPRO default template option which will not affect this behaviour, this will only affect 3.x queryd esigner not 7.0 query designer.,. One thing you can try is to change the iView which is used by the Query Designer to be of version 3.x and change template name to 0ANALYZER.

Hi Deepu,

Please can you advise how I can set the iView to point to my 3.5 template. I have set the 3.5 template 0ANALYZER in SPRO under the 3.5 settings and all the queries run in the test portal for this QA environment show the rendering of queries in 0ANALYZER which works. But its QD that gives the error message:

<b>Error during conversion of the Web template "0ANALYSIS_PATTERN from the master system</b>

Still shows in QD for QA environments.

Will this be fixed if I restarted the Java engine?

Thanks

As I had mentioned before the iView is hardcoded in the URL generation. Changing the iView might not work coz query designer creates the URL in the format QUERY=<query id> but you will need it to be like DynamicParameter=QUERY%3D<query id>.

Dont make your users execute directly from QD, have them publish to a role and then use 3.X template.
