Users lose UME groups after changing "Use unique attribute for UME Unique ID"

Hi All,

We are using Microsoft Active Directory as User store for the SAP Enterprise Portal NW 7.4.

I have a requirement to change the Use unique attribute for UME Unique ID from 'mail' to 'UserPrincipleName'.

I performed the changes in non-production environment under System Administration -> System Configuration _> UME Configuration -> LDAP Server -> Use unique attribute for UME Unique ID = UserPrincipleName.

We restarted portal after updating the above mentioned field.

The issue is : The unique id did get updated, but all the users lost their UME Groups from their profile.

Please suggest how can we make the required changes without users losing their UME Groups.
