use Crystal Report 2016 with a Crystal Report 2020 licence

Hello,

I bought SAP Crystal Reports 2020 but I have a problem opening my current report (v8.5). I tried with Crystal Report 2016 (trial version) and it works perfectly. I would like to know if it's possible to use Crystal Report 2016 with a Crystal Report 2020 licence

Hi Pascal85, that I believe is a file version compatibility issue with CR 2020 and below v9...I have a bunch of older reports where I've seen issues when trying to open them, including shutting crw down without an error.

You might want to:

1. Get a trial download & license for 2016 from here.
2. Open up all of your reports up in 2016 and do a Save As to another directory. 
3. Check to see if you can open the newly saved reports in CR 2020.

Notes:

• The trial version for CR is 30 days.
• 2016 should not be installed on the same machine as 2020.
• Use 2 machines or install 2020 after uninstalling the trial version of 2016.
